California Sea Lions
It’s hard to believe that the Seattle season is already here. 2016 has been one of the best whale watching seasons in recent memory, and the success continued to our first tour out of Seattle in over 10 years. We left Elliott Bay in lots of rain and a hearty group of whale watchers. Headed south, we spotted several California Sea Lions on navigational markers. Word came through of possible whale activity near Point Defiance, so we headed that direction.
We spotted the humpback and had great looks just off of Point Defiance. This is the furthest south an Island Adventures tour has ever gone! After spending a good amount of time with the whale, we said goodbye and headed north.
We were able to completely circumnavigate Vashon Island on our inaugural Seattle tour, giving us some incredible views of wildlife and world-class scenery. We didn’t have a camera aboard today’s tour, but the fall colors in the trees were spectacular. You’ll have to use your imagination or join us on a tour at 11AM to experience it yourself!
