To the Space Needle… (almost) for orcas!

-Harbor porpoise
-Steller sea lion

We left on our trip today and had no idea we would be seeing the Space Needle! We trekked to the south and encountered numerous harbor porpoise. We headed south quickly. We had animals coming in our direction but they were so far away! We broke records today! We acquired the orcas south of Whidbey Island, just north of Edmonds! It was members of J and K pod orcas! They were super spread out, fishing. We saw K22 (Sekiu), L87 (Oynx), K33 (Tika), J37 (Hy’Shqa), J34 (Doublestuf) and J38 (Cookie). We were able to see the Seattle skyline to the south of us! That was definitely a first for the crew from our Anacortes dock! We spent as much time as we could with them before we had to head back toward home port. On our way through Admiralty Inlet, we found a Steller sea lion hauled out on a channel marker! We definitely went the extra miles today (104 miles roundtrip) to get whales! What a wonderful day!
